Fabio Rodo Steps Down as Chair of the International Powerchair Hockey Committee
The International Powerchair Hockey Committee (IPCH) announces the resignation of Fabio Rodo from his role as Chair, concluding more than ten years of leadership at the helm of the international governing body of Powerchair Hockey.
Fabio Rodo was elected Chair in 2014, during the IPCH Sport Congress held following the World Championship in Munich, Germany, succeeding John Teunissen. His election marked the beginning of a decade characterized by continuity, innovation, and a strong commitment to the values and integrity of the sport.
Fabio’s connection to Powerchair Hockey is both deeply personal and profoundly professional. He discovered the sport in the late 1990s, initially serving as a personal assistant and accompanying athletes in their sporting activities. Through this experience, he became closely involved with the Italian federation and, progressively, with the international Powerchair Hockey movement, placing his skills and dedication at the service of the sport.
His early international contributions included participation in the organization of the 2005 European Championship in Rome, a milestone event for the discipline. Subsequently, Fabio embarked on a structured leadership pathway as Team Manager of the Italian National Team, a role he fulfilled until 2014, when his election as IPCH Chair marked a natural evolution of his long-standing engagement.
Alongside his institutional responsibilities, Fabio worked extensively with the Technical Committee, where he inspired and guided numerous innovation and development projects. Among these were the various testing phases of speed control systems, as well as the promotion of regulatory improvements and long-term development proposals discussed within the IPCH committees. His contributions have had a lasting impact on both the technical and strategic evolution of Powerchair Hockey.
Throughout his tenure, Fabio Rodo has been recognized as a sincere, approachable, and principled leader. He consistently sought to uphold the integrity of the sport, to believe firmly in its core values, and to promote Powerchair Hockey at all levels with responsibility and vision. He was never hesitant to assume personal responsibility or take calculated risks when he believed it was in the best interest of the sport.
Message from Fabio Rodo
Dear Members of the Sport Executive Committee,
Dear Friends of the powerchair hockey movement,
After careful consideration, I am writing to formally tender my immediate and irrevocable resignation from my role as Chairperson of the Sport Executive Committee for Powerchair Hockey, effective immediately.
Having been involved in international activities within our sport since 2012, this decision has not been an easy one. However, I have reached the conclusion that the coexistence of my professional responsibilities and the duties associated with this role may no longer be fully compatible. In the interest of ensuring the highest standards for the Committee and for the sport, I must therefore step down.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all members of the Committee for the work we have carried out together over the years. It has been an honour to collaborate with such committed and competent colleagues. Please be assured that my support for the Committee and for the development of Powerchair Hockey will never cease. Even outside of any formal role, I will remain available to support, advise, and contribute whenever appropriate.
I step aside with respect, integrity, and continued dedication to the athletes, teams, and the global Powerchair Hockey community. I am confident that the Committee will continue to guide the sport’s development with competence and vision.
Thank you for the trust you have placed in me throughout these years.
Kind regards and Happy Holidays,
Fabio Rodo
The IPCH expresses its deep gratitude to Fabio Rodo for his years of service, leadership, and unwavering dedication. His legacy will remain an integral part of the sport’s international development.
The IPCH Executive Committee has formally acknowledged the resignation of Fabio Rodo and expresses its sincere gratitude for his long-standing service and leadership.
In order to ensure continuity and stability, the current Sport Executive Committee will continue its activities. Danni Mogensen, in his role as Vice Chair, will assume a leading role in guiding the Committee through this transitional phase.
The shared objective of the Committee is to lead the international Powerchair Hockey movement toward the next World Championship. The Sport Congress will then be held later in 2026, which will be elective, allowing the membership to appoint a new Sport Executive Committee in accordance with IPCH statutes and democratic principles.
The IPCH remains fully committed to safeguarding the integrity, development, and future growth of Powerchair Hockey during this period and beyond.
