Call for bids to host the IPCH Powerchair Hockey Qualification Tournament for the European Region 2027 or European Championship 2028
Powerchair Hockey is growing, and with it comes the opportunity to shape the future of the sport. The International Powerchair Hockey Committee (IPCH) is looking for nations interested in hosting two major events: the Qualification Tournament 2027 and the European Championship 2028. This is your chance to contribute to the development of Powerchair Hockey by organizing a high-level competition in your country.
Qualification Tournament (QT) for Regional Championship
The Qualification Tournament is a crucial event for teams aiming to secure a place in the European Championship 2028.
Key Details:
- Regions: One Qualification Tournament (QT) per region can be held.
- Participation: A minimum of 2 participating teams.
- Eligibility:
- All teams not otherwise qualified for the Regional Championships may apply.
- Teams from nations absent in the last World Championship and those not yet qualified in the World Ranking List, along with new nations aiming to join the World Ranking, are eligible for the QT.
- Competition Dates: Between July 2026 and April 2027.
European Championship (EC) 2028
The European Championship will feature 8 to 10 teams, potentially divided into two groups, competing in a round-robin format followed by cross-group play leading to the finals.
- Competition Dates: Between January 2028 and December 2028.
- The invitation and slot allocation for the Regional Championship will be disclosed publicly before the IPCH Qualification Tournament is announced, ensuring transparency and equal opportunity for all non-directly qualified nations.
Bidding Process
Interested nations must first submit a Letter of Intent to organize an official and sanctioned IPCH competition. The Letter of Intent must:
- Be written in English.
- Be signed by the national member organization of World Abilitysport or the leadership of the National Powerchair Hockey Organization (on behalf of an Organizing Committee).
- Include general details about the event organization, such as the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) composition, accommodation and sports hall options, potential dates for IPCH Site Inspection, and preliminary budget and sponsorship opportunities.
Next Steps After Submission
Upon receiving the Letter of Intent, the IPCH Competition Officer will provide the Bid Form and the Bid Package, outlining further details and requirements for a formal bid.

- European Championship 2028: 31 December 2025
