Become an IPCH International Referee – C License Course Now Open!

Part of the IPCH Summer League Tournament

The IPCH International Referee License Course is now open for applications. Designed for experienced national referees, this course offers a unique opportunity to step onto the international stage and become a certified IPCH International C Referee.

Course Overview

This course is aimed at national-level referees in Powerchair Hockey or other sports who are ready for international responsibilities.

Maximum of 6 participants will be selected.

Eligibility:

  • Minimum age: 18
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Experience as a national referee

Course Structure:

The course consists of two main components:

Theoretical Part
  • Focus on international rule usage, positioning, and game management
  • Includes a theoretical exam to test knowledge
Practical Part
  • Refereeing live matches during the Summer League Tournament
  • Real-time feedback from experienced international instructors

Certification:

Participants must pass both the theoretical and practical components to earn the IPCH International C Referee License.

If a participant does not pass, they will be invited to join the Referee Development Group (RDG) for continued development.

Summer League Tournament

Held alongside the course from June 24 to 30, 2025, the APHC Summer League Tournament will bring together 25 powerchair hockey players from across the world. It offers an ideal environment for referees to apply their knowledge and grow through hands-on experience.

Participation Fee: €500.00

(Includes accommodation, meals, course materials, and World Abilitysport fees. Travel costs not included.)

Registration Deadline: April 30, 2025

After registration, the Referee and Observers Committee will schedule a short interview. Selected candidates will then be contacted by the APHC for payment instructions.

If more than 6 eligible applications are received, non-selected referees will be directed to the Referee Development Group.

IPCH Referee Development Group (RDG)

The RDG is an alternative pathway for national referees with potential to grow into international roles, supported by mentorship and development tools.

Eligibility:

  • Minimum age: 18
  • Good command of English
  • Some experience as a national referee

Mentorship:

Each RDG candidate is paired with an experienced international referee or observer for tailored support and guidance.

Development Process:

Through match reviews, feedback, and participation in international referee meetings, referees will refine their skills and knowledge.

Once ready, they will complete a theoretical exam and be evaluated in a practical tournament setting.

Opportunities:

RDG members may be invited to the 2nd Skorpions Varese International Powerchair Hockey Tournament, held from August 29 to September 1, 2025, in Besnate (Varese), Italy.

Successful candidates will be awarded the IPCH International C Referee License.
