Updated IPCH player eligibility rules now in effect

Following recent discussions at the IPCH Sport Congress and in response to several complex cases over the years, IPCH has published a revised and clarified version of its player eligibility rules. These updates aim to ensure consistency, fairness, and clarity regarding which players are eligible to represent national teams in IPCH-sanctioned events.

While the previous rules provided a basic framework, evolving cases highlighted the need for more structured and future-proof guidelines. This revision includes significant improvements—most notably, the introduction of a one-time switch rule, which allows players to change the national team they represent under specific conditions related to nationality and residency.

Key Changes in the Revised Rules (Section B.4):

  • Clear definitions of eligibility based on nationality and residence.
  • Possibility of a one-time national team switch, provided certain conditions are met.
  • National Associations are responsible for verifying and validating player eligibility.
  • In case of uncertainty, documentation must be submitted in advance to IPCH for review.
  • Document checks will be performed by the Jury during official events.

This update reflects collaborative input from the Jury Committee, Athletes Committee, and Coaches Committee. The rules take effect from the date of this publication and will be incorporated into the revised Competition Regulations shortly.
