Today, the final group games of the IPCH European Championship 2024 were concluded. After another day of thrilling games, we gladly share some information with you. Here is the final group ranking:

After 10 games, it is safe to say we have witnessed an ever so high level of powerchair hockey. The Musholm sports hall has been the stage of excellence. Athletes and officials continue to amaze the audience with their extraordinary performances! Here is how group A unfolded:

On the first day, The Netherlands and Germany already set the pace for the competition. In the first half it was difficult to tell who would run away with the two points. Or perhaps they would have to share the score? In the second half, The Netherlands took over and secured their first win, an important step to the final fase. Germany had yet to gather points. In the next group games, both The Netherlands and Germany continued on their rampage through the group, eating up all the points. Switzerland won with a great difference from Spain, but must now play the play-offs for 5th to 8th place in the tournament.

The games in group B were a lot tighter. Belgium surprised host Denmark with a very strong first half in the opening game, but didn’t manage to hold on. Finland was destined the same fate against Italy. When Denmark took on Finland, things started off exciting but it seemed apparant the Danes would win the game. The Fins weren’t done yet and made the host sweat until the final whistle. With only one goal difference, Denmark secured their ticket to the semifinals. Now it was between Italy and Denmark to decide who would face The Netherlands in the semifinals. Yet again both teams delivered a thrilling showcase of powerchair hockey at the highest level. Again, the winner won with only one goal difference. Only in this case, it was in the disfavor of the Danes.

Belgium and Finland battled for the 3rd spot in the group. Both nations made life hell on a earth for 40 minutes and the teams ended up sharing the points. Based on a worse goal difference, Belgium ended 4th in the group.

There you have it, the schedule of the play-offs and semifinals! Tomorrow is set to become yet another day filled with surprises. And everyone can witness the action, live on the website of our Danish hosts.
